Mr. Essentialist: Winter Essentials

Mr. Essentialist: Winter Essentials

Alexander Atkins started Mr Essentialist in New Zealand in 2012 before moving to San Francisco and finally New York. Alongside his career in social media marketing, Alexander has worked to grow Mr Essentialist, partnering with brands including Aesop, Tata Harper, Lab Series, Tom Ford, Creed and Le Labo. Here’s Alexander’s Winter Essentials:

Face

For winter I like to layer, using things like Tata Harper's Rejuvenating Serum followed by something indulgent by Dr. Dennis Gross. Cleansing is always essential. I use my Clarisonic once every two days, typically lathered with Botanical Facial Gel by Mario Bedescu. Then there's a bi-weekly face scrub in the shower. My go-to is Tom Ford's Purifying Face Cleanser. At night I religiously use Egyptian Magic.

Hair

In terms of hair, I keep things fairly simple. I've recently discovered Cactus Texturizing Shampoo by R+Co actually works. Then there's my favorite styling product for now - Texture Paste by Fellow Barber.

Body

Ren's Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue Body Wash smells incredible and is sulfate-free. I also like to lightly moisturize with Aesop's Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm, but only when I remember.

Scent

I like to constantly try new scents but will inevitably revert back to a few favorites. For now I'm enjoying the warmth of Tom Ford's Ombré Leather plus Mojave Ghost by Byredo.
