MFP: Since being signed as a UFC fighter, how have life changed? What has been some highlights from being in the UFC?

Alan: I went from fighting for change to being able to take care of my family. So life changed a lot. It also opened up huge doors in the modeling world in the same way.

MFP: Do you have any upcoming fights?

I’ve been taking care of some injuries and looking to fight again on March or April this year.

It takes me out of my comfort zone. The more you can do that in life the stronger and more confident you become with situations.

Besides monetary compensation, what does modeling bring to the table?

The exposure from modeling and shows that I do open me up to more markets than just fighting. They have also allowed me to discover new passions aside from fighting.

We also notice you tackling on some guitar, is music in your future?

Ha! I’ve played the guitar since I was young but it just never stuck. Plus I have a terrible voice. Fortunately my wife has a beautiful voice and it encourages me to pick back up the guitar more often when she sings.

Hows fatherhood and the family life? Any lessons learned through the process of experiencing it all? Have you changed in any way?

It’s amazing being a father. I never went into it with a game plan of any sort. I’ve just learned to mold my self into the example I want for him as we grew together.

What passions do you have that not many people know about? Cars?

I’m no where close to a mechanic, but I love seeing old cars on the rode. It inspired me to have my 56’ F100 built.

Are there any more tattoos coming?

No more tattoos for now. As I become more interested in acting and hosting I think more tattoos could hinder any potential jobs as of now.

Since we are a fashion magazine, how would you describe your fashion style?

I am pretty consistent with my style. Darker, form fitting cloths that project strength and comfort is how I would describe it. I almost alway check with my son  if I have a question. He has a natural sense of what looks good and what he likes on me. If I don’t look “handsome” he won’t let me leave.

Did you have any mentors/voice of reason/role models that  helped or continue to help you as maneuver through life?

I never did have anyone in particular as a mentor in that sense. But I have had a lot of great people around me through me journey. With that I have always tried to pick up what it is they do well and improve that part on me.

What advice would you give to someone who looks up to you and wishes to one day be in similar shoes as a MMA fighter?

If you are passionate about fighting, then you are doing it for the right reasons. The road becomes much harder and tough to deal with as you climb in success. You WILL have bad nights that are tough to deal with. If your passion is strong enough to accept this, then follow your heart!
